Chilapata Forest is accessible by road, rail and air.

By Air : You have to first come to Bagdogra airport, and then you can hire a car to take you to Chilapata. Distance from Bagdogra to Chilapata - 138 km. (Approx. 3hour drive)

By Rail : The easiest way is to board a train upto New Alipurduar Station (NOQ) from where it is only an hour's drive to Chilapata wildlife sanctuary. Distance from Alipurduar to Chilapata - 28 km.
Another nearest station to Chilapata is Hasimara. Distance from Hasimara to Chilapata - 16 km.

Best time to visit Chilapata

You can visit Chilapata throughout the year, but if you wish to go for jungle safari, it is best to avoid rainy season since the forest area of Chilapata remains closed from 16th June to 15th September.
